Feb 2007 - July 2008

Having been employed, a failed entrepreneur and finally a slightly less unsuccessful entrepreneur Tim had told himself that he would not compromise his ambitions or horizons by going in to full time employment for someone else. Yet here he was doing just that!

The reason for it were in his mind very straight forward, a good package had been agreed consisting of growing salary, bonuses and most importantly equity. He’d also be continuing to work in a field which was very exciting and the ability to connect with even more in the industry was definitely a benefit in itself. There was the added fact that in agreeing to come on board Tim would also be allowed to continue with his own ventures, had it not been for this there would certainly have been no deal

Things went very well, within 12 months of joining the company sales increased several times over, and more importantly profits were up. There was a lot of interest from larger companies who were liked the business, the technology and the development office in Ukraine. Several offers to buy the business came but terms were never agreed

In 2008 the market was ripe for a B2B company like World Dating Partners, who started to recruit new employees in the UK and abroad to try and tap in to the international market (somewhat unsuccessfully). Internet dating was a proven and profitable business model which countless companies were and remain desperate to tap in to. Getting these businesses on board had been a formality but unfortunately a couple of other companies were also aware of the B2B opportunities and began to take a slice. Ironically most of this business was going to White Label Dating who had been dismissed by World Dating Partners because they were too small and had a too basic platform - but by all accounts they made their partners a lot of money!

By July 2008 Tim’s own role seemed to be constantly changing and still uncertain of all the reasons he fell out of favour and was told to leave. This was a blessing.
