Ferraris are fun

August 5, 2008 :: Ramblings :: No Comments

Its 11pm and I think I am going to go to bed nice and early. It has been a been a tough day you see. Got up after 9am, did a not much to 11.30 then went to Silverstone to bomb about in a Ferrari 360 Modena. And that really is about it!

Considering I am definitely not an experienced track driver, and it was pissing down I think I did quite well to make it back to write this. Fun as it was, the 360 will unlikely be the first Ferrari in to my garage.

I’m exhausted. Bon night.

I have finally shed my shackles and am free!
No more busting my balls to make someone else’s company grow, no having to be at someone else’s beck and call and no more having to justify any ideas I have. The biggest advantage is that I now have probably near 16 hours a day I didn’t have before to work on my own projects. All of which have been pretty much on hold for the past 18 months.
Obviously its safe to assume there will be a hell of a lot going on now!

Am sure to most people it will seem ridiculous that I, someone claiming to be some sort of entrepreneur would have spent 18 months devoting all my hard work to someone else. They’d be right, in hindsight I would not have done it, and I would not recommend any one else to sell out as quickly as I did (I didn’t actually get rid of any of my previous ventures but I did prevent myself from working on them)! I had my reasons which sadly don’t seem to have been worthwhile. However, I did for the most of it enjoy myself, I learned a little, and met a number of good people. So I am sure some good will come of it.

I’ve just come back from my week off, fully revitalized and ready to throw myself 100% in to all my business ideas.

So now its onwards and upwards. I have a few things on the go which I hope will all be ready soon, and will certainly be keeping me very busy for the next few months…. exciting stuff!!

Cars + PORN

As promised here are a few pictures of my drive and the cars on it. I know they’re dirty and I know one isn’t working… There is in fact a 3rd car on the drive which also doesn’t work! Marvelous.

Bloody Cars

June 3, 2008 :: Ramblings :: No Comments

What a bloody morning! I got up, was running nearly on time and the sun was shining. It was set to be a good start to the week. But then at 8.15am on the M4 my car died. The radiator hosing exploding right off with radiator still attached, the engine losing all pressure and won’t start now, completely knackered.

The rest of the day was spent sat on the side of motorway, then sat in a garage, then sat in a recovery vehicle in non moving traffic on the motorway to being sat on the train, to finally being sat in a car at the end of the day.

The only upside to the day is the spare car I have borrowed is a Lotus. Looks like I may have found an engine to drop in to my car too…. fingers crossed!

I’ll stick a photo on tomorrow of the cars collecting on the drive.

Oh, I did get confirmation of my little deal too - so atleast the went smoothly!

Tokyo

May 9, 2008 :: Ramblings, Business Trips :: No Comments

Its 7am and this is my final morning in Tokyo…. I’m in Tokyo by the way!

Went on a nice early morning walk around Imperial Palace. Literally. All the way around, outside, around the moat. Its too early and its closed!

I’ve actually been up all night because I want back in to UK time as best I can and try to get some sleep on the plane. Very annoyingly I’ve come all this way and been so busy I have seen nothing of the place. Did go out for a meal last night in a very nice restaurant overlooking the whole city, other than that my only other excursion involved extreme Vodka, I can recall nothing.

So, from what little I have seen these are my conclusions!

  • Japanese are polite to the extreme - wearing masks when they are ill so not to spread disease. My drunken Ukrainian friend Max even grabbed a police officer and shook him asking for directions back to our hotel. Somehow there we no repercussions from this.
  • It really is a couple of years ahead technology wise. Some sites are accessed more via mobile than web.
  • Its expensive!
  • If I were a lot less busy I would probably even investigate business out here. The population is 140m, with very high internet and phone usage… that has to be a a good starting point. Now you just have the simple problem of deciding what the business is and what the competition and market is like for that now. There is also a huge cultural difference that has to be understood.

    7.10 am now, time for breakfast and check out.

    It is worth it…

    April 15, 2008 :: Ramblings :: No Comments

    It really isn’t worth going to bed now, but it has been worth staying up to nearly 5am even though I need to be up in an hour!
    Having recently been ill, most likely from over working I should probably be more careful. Providing I do this just once or twice a week I should be fine.

    I hope.

    Sadly sometimes it’s just required to work through the night. However much you are able to work smarter and not harder, there are always times you have to knuckle down and work through, tonight was one of those nights.

    Small site update

    April 3, 2008 :: Ramblings :: 1 Comment

    I was just looking through the site and realised how outdated everything on here was. The “About” page has been updated, I intend to follow up with a couple more changes.

    Part of the reason for the updates is that the purpose of the site has been re-focused a little. It is now purely about my journey to £1 million, and my miscellaneous thoughts and adventures on this path I have laid before me. The site is not in anyway linked specifically to any sites or other projects.

    I genuinely hope some people will be able to make a few extra pennies using my wisdom, or at least save themselves a lot of hard work in discovering something I have already spent time doing.
    It might also help if a few people lose a bit of money along the way to balance things out! My influence is such that global economies could become hugely in balanced if this were not the case.

    Besides its important to make few mistakes along the way. I make them every day (all deliberate as part of my self improvement program of course)

    Stress Management

    April 1, 2008 :: Ramblings, me, me, me :: No Comments

    Over the weekend I learned an important lesson! How to manage my own stress levels.

    I have really suffered from stress only a couple of times, most significantly when I was managing 2 companies, both of which struggling, while juggling my massive personals debt.

    Recently with the combination of moving house, work, long hours and again a few financial factors I’ve been a little more pressured than I have been for a long time. Though not stressed in the same way as I had been before, I can easily boil over in an instant and feel like murdering someone. Being an easy going and level headed sort of chap I am aware of the punishments facing such actions. I therefore try to avoid getting so angry I kill - it is inexcusable and “anger” will not help me in any court of law. Oh, I also don’t kill on moral grounds.

    …anyway…. Saturday morning I went in to town to do a few routine things: Visit the bank to change my address, pop to post office, buy some lunch.
    Instead of my planned routine I found myself in the bank, getting extremely pissed off and demanding to see the bank manager. I closed my account and stormed out. Town visit over.

    For the rest of the afternoon I was very angry, very stressed, not pleasant to be around and definitely not productive.

    Sunday morning the sun was shining and I saw a perfect opportunity to get out and mow the garden. Putting stripes up and down the lawn while Abi and Phoebe tended to the pots and plants was most satisfying indeed. Focusing on them, having lunch together and spending all afternoon in the garden was the first time in a long long long time I COMPLETELY forgot about work. Ridiculous how it took something so simple to put things back in to perspective for me. Then again everyone who knows me will vouch for what a complete fucking dick I can be!

    Come Monday morning I was revitalised and looking on the bright side of life once more.

    Realistically I can’t take much time off. I have massive work loads and responsibilities I must meet. But its nice to know that by stepping back for just a few hours I can unwind and appreciate what its all really about.

    Ukraine

    March 8, 2008 :: Ramblings, Business Trips :: No Comments

    I am just sat in my hotel in Kiev (or is it Kyiv?!) waiting to have a quick meeting before hoping in to a taxi and heading to the airport.

    I have had a very busy week in the Ukraine since flying in on Sunday night. I spent one day here in the capital, and then a few days with development office in Donetsk. I would like to come out for a little bit longer in the future so I have the opportunity to absorb some of the culture, unfortunately this week it has been all business and no pleasure, not even a couple of hours free to quickly look at the touristy spots.

    I will write a little more soon as I get back and land in the UK, unfortunately I am pressed for time.

    As usual, I have outshone myself with my incredible photographic abilities; take a look at these photos! If you’ve never been to the Ukraine, these will give you absolutely no better picture of what the country is like!

    Hotel Lybid view
    Wonderful View from my hotel room….

    Car Journey
    This is actually a very impressive landmark - which I do it no justice!

    Again, I have taken something quite striking and made it look shit!

    I am available for bar mitzvahs and weddings.

    Moving House

    February 15, 2008 :: Ramblings :: No Comments

    Moving house tomorrow - WOOHOO!

    Well, in thoery anyway, obviously won’t count on it until i have the key in my hands. And even then have to shift everything from one house to another which is not going to be fun….

    Have spent the last few days in London at the TFM&A. Not a massively exciting show, however as usual seemed to get some good business out of it.

    I have to go to bed now, I am knackered and have a call at 7am.
